Day 2, 30 December: Excursion through Absheron Peninsula (6 hours)

Today we explore all the outskirts and sights of Absheron peninsula.
Transfer to the temple of fire worshipers – Atashgah (30 km far from Baku).
Azerbaijan is one of the few places on the earth where even today one can observe elements of preserved
fire cult and the ancient Zoroastrianism religion.
Our next point is Gala Archaeological and Ethnographic Museum Complex. This open-air museum was
created on the site of archaeological excavations where there are still survived ruins of five thousand years
old history. During the
excursions
you will be acquainted with ancient dwellings, burial mounds, tombs,
water storages, the ruins of an ancient castle etc.
The road leads to the 22m square-plan Mardakan quadrangular tower that was built in the 14th century. It
was mainly used for defending Mardakan on a temporary basis.
The final destination of today’s excursion is Azerbaijani exotic Yanardag (“burning hill”). And this is
real
a burning hill – not metaphorically, but literally. Meter-long tongues of fire cover the stratified earth
approximately for 10
metres
in width.

Day 3, 31 December: Excursion through Baku and Old Town (6 hours) & New Year’s Celebration

Departure to the excursion that covers the entire central part of the city with a display of the major historical
and architectural sites. Our first stop is Old Town that is a heart of Baku. Here, on the hill and in front of
The Caspian Sea, the ancient city was born. Several dozens of historically architectural monuments are located
in the territory of Old Town: Palace of Shirvanshahs, Maiden Tower, caravansaries, mosques, baths etc.
The next point is Cultural Center – a complex construction that includes an auditorium, museum, exhibition
halls, administrative offices. The center project and design belong to the famous architect Zaha Hadid.
“BIG ATTENTION TO DETAILS”
The construction of the building was covered on the channels of Discovery and Science Channel, dedicated
to the most courageous engineering projects of modernity and architectural masterpieces of the world.
The excursion involves also the Governor’s Garden, Government House of Azerbaijan, Azerbaijan State
Philharmonic Hall, Flag Squire, the sights that are considered the symbols of modern Baku – truly iconic
Flame Towers, Carpet Museum which resembles a folded carpet, Crystal Hall (in which was held
“Eurovision” song contest), Socar Tower, Azersu Tower, Congress Hall, and of course walk along the
embankment.
Today’s excursion ends in the upland park – the spectacular place where you can enjoy an unsurpassed view
of Baku bay.

Day 4, 01 January: Free day in Baku

Free time in Baku that is an excellent opportunity to be acquainted with the country and its way of life,
stroll through the central streets of the city, purchase memorable gifts and souvenirs for your loved ones

Mosque, Tufandag Mountain Resort

Day 5, 02 January:
One-day trip to Shahdag Mountain Resort (12 hours)

Get warmer and be ready for real winter with full of entertainment – our today’s road leads to Shahdag that
is a favorite place for active leisure fans. Surrounded by the Greater Caucasus, the Shahdag Resort
commands a stunning panorama, almost 2,500 meters above sea level. Majestic mountains, brightly shining
sun, untold natural beauty – this all can be felt here.
You can rent a ski or snowboard. Moreover, if you have not tried before to ski then this is the right time to
challenge yourself. All slopes are equipped with modern lifts and the view from lifts is marvelous.
If you are not interested in skiing or snowboarding, there are plenty of other alternative activities such as
snow-scooting, snowmobiling, tubing, zip-line, paintball, snow grooming machine tours, ice rink, shooting
center, adventure park, horseback riding, quad tours. Moreover, taste delicious local food at the restaurants,
relax in the spa, practice your winter photography and so on.
