Turkish Airline resumes UK flights as Turkey moves to the amber list
The UK had previously placed Turkey on a Red List for several months due to which flights to and from Turkey were very limited. Travelers entering the UK from Turkey had to complete a mandatory two-week quarantine at a hotel which costed over £2000. This further demotivated people from traveling and therefore significantly reduced tourism in Turkey,
Following the announcement of Turkey being removed from the list completely, Pegasus Airlines, Turkey’s leading low-cost airline, has also announced that they will resume their flight schedule to and from the UK. Passengers in these flights will no longer have to go through the mandatory quarantine period as long as they’re vaccinated with an approved vaccine,
Flights from Manchester Airport will take off for Turkey five times a week, arriving at over 36 Turkish destinations including some popular tourist vacation spots such as Bodrum, Dalaman and Antalya. This will rapidly boost tourism in Turkey once again after a market plunge due to the pandemic. People have started pre-booking these flights and they’ve already become fully booked for the next few months due to the holiday season,
Flights from the London Airport will take off for Turkey twice a day, covering over 30 different destinations in Turkey. These flights, despite being available twice a day, are already being sold out on pre-bookings as well. It is recommended to book your flight to Turkey at least two months in advance in order to get a fair shot of finding an available seat. You could also wait at the airport before a flight takes off to see if anyone who pre-booked the flight didn’t show up. This would make it your lucky day as you’d get a last minute seat in a plane that’s overly in demand by the citizens of the UK,
Flights from the London Airport depart at 14:40 and 00:05, returning flights from Istanbul depart at 11:35 and 21:00. Direct flights from the Manchester Airport to the Istanbul Airport, depart at12:50, with returning flights departing at 09:45. Flights between London and Izmirdepart at 12:55,with returning flights departing at 10:05. Pegasus will also be launching direct flights between London and Antalya for the winter season on 20 October,
Güliz Özturk, CCO of Pegasus Airlines, has said in a statement, “In light of the new announcement putting Turkey back into the amber list, we’re seeing strong growth in our bookings to Turkey from England, and in response to this growing demand and desire for autumn travel, we’re delighted also to be expanding our flight program from London Stansted and Manchester to Turkey, with excellent connections across our network of 119 destinations in 44 countries – meaning travelers will have a lot more choice with our flexible booking options this autumn and winter. We’re planning to further increase the number of our flights from England later in the autumn if demand continues to rise, and we’re very much looking forward to welcoming our guests back on board as travel begins to reopen again.”
